How do you see yourself? Do you see someone who is rich and successful in life or do you see yourself as a failure? I’m going to talk about this subject a little more in detail today and how it relates to everything that you do in life. By reading all the way to the end, I have a bonus audio I want to give away that specifically talks about self image.
I want you to tell you a little story about a guy named Paul. Paul grew up all his life and everyone loved Paul. Now, Paul is very self conscious about his image. Then one day, Paul starts talking funny and won’t show his teeth. When he is asked about it, he says that he just doesn’t want anyone to see his teeth. Why is this? Paul notices a small gap in his teeth. He thinks a lot of himself and in Paul’s mind, this is a tragedy. Paul continues to look at the gap, stare at it, and then he begins to talk about it.
90% of the people would have never noticed this small “gap” in his teeth, nor would they have any less of him, but now Paul is so pre-sold (yes sold) on the fact that everyone is starting at his gap. He is fully convinced that people are going to look down upon him. Now, since Paul is consumed with this idea, Paul starts becoming distant with his close friends.
Paul eventually starts losing his social skills, he’s not as friendly, and all sorts of things. This events were all caused by the fact that he had a small gap in his teeth that no one would have probably noticed.
You see, Paul’s SELF image of himself started to reflect upon others. No one even said ANYTHING to him about the gap but since he was so consumed in his self image, it started to affect other areas of his life.
Self image is the most important aspect in anything that you do. If you can see yourself accomplishing the task, then you can do it. On the contrary, if you don’t see yourself accomplishing the task, how do you expect anyone else to see you doing that?
I use to struggle with this then one day, I just decided that I was going to be successful, no matter what obstacle came my way. The biggest one of all was the self image. I had to get out of my shell and actually visualize myself doing the things that I wanted to do.
